According to family tradition, Aaron Etinson arrived in Montreal from Romania prior to World War I in possession of a secret recipe for smoking meats. He opened the store in 1918.

My late grandfather, Jack Rosenhek of Quebec City, was president of Beth Israel Ohev Sholom synagogue during Ben-Gurion’s visit to Canada in May of 1961. He presented the Israeli Prime Minister with this lamp. When my family visited Israel a few years ago on the occasion of our daughter Abby’s Bat Mitzvah, imagine our surprise when we visited the Ben-Gurion House and saw this very lamp in his guest room!
