Federation CJA began a new era in 1999 with the renovation of its home base, Cummings House. Among the building’s many features were a renewed Jewish Public Library and a world-class Holocaust museum, which is dedicated to preserving the memory of the Holocaust and teaching tolerance. Thousands of school children visit the museum every year. In 2006, Federation CJA opened a branch in the Westpark district of Dollard-des-Ormeaux to meet the needs of one of the fastest growing Jewish communities in North America. This decade also saw the emergence of a number of programs dedicated to strengthening the Jewish community of Montreal and beyond: Operation Montreal, Taglit–Birthright Israel, and more.
